Terms of Service

Our role: an intermediary

We act as an "intermediary" under Section 2(1)(w) of the Information Technology Act, 2000, providing a platform for members to list their own profile and search others'. We do not create, verify, or endorse the profile content members submit, see "Profile accuracy & verification" below.

Eligibility

• You must have reached the legal age to marry in India (21 for men, 18 for women).
• You must be Never Married, Divorced, Widowed, or Awaiting Divorce (with supporting proof where applicable). Currently married individuals may not create a profile.
• You must have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
• Your registration and use of this service must be with the genuine intention of finding a marriage partner, not for any commercial, promotional, or other unrelated purpose.

Profile accuracy & verification

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential, and you warrant that your age, photos, income, education, marital history, and every other detail in your profile are true and accurate. We reserve the right to request government-issued ID proof and to mark a profile verified or unverified accordingly. A phone call from our team confirming a profile is a trust signal, not a guarantee, we do not independently verify every detail a member submits, and you remain responsible for satisfying yourself about another member's background, character, and circumstances before making any personal or financial commitment.

Conduct

You agree not to:

• Request money, loans, gifts, or financial help from another member, under any pretext.
• Post harassing, obscene, defamatory, or sexually explicit content.
• Create fake or duplicate profiles, impersonate another person, or misrepresent your identity, marital status, or any other profile detail.
• Upload synthetically generated content, deepfakes, AI-generated or AI-altered photos, or any image that misrepresents your real appearance.
• Use scripts or scrapers to extract profile data, or send unsolicited commercial messages.
• Continue contacting a member after they have asked you to stop.
• Upload or share content that infringes another person's intellectual property or privacy, promotes enmity between groups on religious or caste grounds, threatens India's sovereignty or public order, or otherwise violates any applicable law.

Your content

You retain ownership of the photos and profile information you submit. By submitting them, you confirm you have the right to share them, and you grant us a license to use, display, and reproduce that content solely to operate the service, showing your profile to other members per your visibility settings, generating a shareable profile card at your or an admin's request, and similar in-product uses. We do not license your content to advertisers or sell it to third parties.

Facilitation only, no guarantee

Okkaligar Marriage Information Center is a facilitation and profile-listing service. We do not guarantee a match, a response, or a marriage outcome. You are solely responsible for your own background checks, reference calls, and safety precautions before meeting another member or making any financial or personal commitment. We are not liable for disputes, fraud, or misrepresentation between members, on or off the platform, or for any financial transaction a member enters into with another member or a third party.

Fees

Access to another member's contact and other gated details is unlocked individually, by our team, after you request it via WhatsApp and pay the fee off-platform, never as a self-serve subscription or in-app payment. Once a profile has been unlocked on your account, the fee for that unlock is non-refundable.

Reporting a concern

If another member's profile or conduct concerns you, use the in-app Report option or contact us directly. We review every report before taking action. Knowingly filing a false report to have another member's profile wrongly suspended is itself a violation of these terms and may result in action against your own account.

Suspension & termination

We may suspend, block, or delete your account without prior notice if you breach these terms, provide false information, or solicit money from another member. You may also delete your own account at any time from Settings.

No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses, and we make no warranty about the accuracy of any member's profile.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount, if any, you paid us for the specific unlock or service giving rise to the claim.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the service.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Tamil Nadu, India. Any dispute arising from them falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. Continued use of the service after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Grievance Officer

Appointed under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, for complaints about content on this platform or how your personal data is handled.
